Description
A genuinely innovative piece of numismatic history — this 1 Pice “Hole” coin was the first holed-shape coin introduced in the Uniform Coinage of British India, struck between 1943 and 1947 during the final years of the British Raj. The obverse features the crown of King George VI with a center hole, large date, and the legend “1 PICE INDIA” in English, Hindi, and Urdu, while the reverse displays a wreath surrounding the center hole. Remarkably, these coins were minted not only at Bombay, Calcutta, and Lahore but also at the Pretoria Mint in South Africa — the first time an Indian coin was struck at a foreign mint. A unique, tactile bundle of 5 coins that’s both historically significant and visually distinctive — perfect for collectors, jewelry/craft makers, and history enthusiasts. Disclaimer — Mixed years (1943–1947); any 5 coins sent from the available lot.
